Here at OakCraft, we use a particular kind of timber – oak – to construct the most exquisite, elegant, and sophisticated oak frame buildings Bournemouth has seen. Oak has been used as a construction material for over a thousand years.

The fact that it’s still used to this day is a testament to its usefulness, though we at OakCraft have perfected the art of timber construction through modern innovation. From a new conservatory to a timber framed gazebo, customers can enjoy a quality build that looks great and lasts for years. We can handle the entire process too, from the initial consultation to the installation.

Why Build an Extension to your Property?

If you’re considering adding an oak framed extension or conservatory to your property but are not quite convinced, consider the benefits. The benefits of our oak framed buildings include:

  • Increases Your Property’s Value
  • Expands Your Available Living Space
  • Utilise Previously Unused Space
  • Bespoke Designs Tailored to Your Lifestyle and Preferences
  • Alternative to Moving House

Advantages of Oak Versus Other Woods

At OakCraft, we work exclusively with timber, and our timber of choice is oak, and there are very good reasons for this. The incredible characteristics of oak make it perfectly suited to constructing outdoor buildings. Most notably, the durability of oak sets it apart from other types of wood. Oak frame buildings will stay standing for many years, which is why oak has been so popular in construction for such a long time.

Oak is especially resistant to direct sunlight and is far less likely to warp, which could have a knock-on effect with the rest of the building. It also boasts excellent water-resistance properties and is highly resistant to wear and tear. Even an oak frame conservatory built in the harshest part of the country will stand the test of time.

Lastly, oak sports an incredibly attractive woodgrain, adding a dash of elegance wherever an oak property happens to stand. And because it stains and polishes well, you can make yours look truly magnificent.

Bespoke Oak Framed Building Services in Bournemouth

From consultation to installation, we want our customers to be fully satisfied with their new timber extension, and so we go the extra mile to exceed all expectations. No two customers will have the same requirements, and each person might have a different vision for what they want an extension or conservatory to look like. As such, our team will take the time to listen to your request and work out all the details with you before proceeding.

Once we’ve established what it is you’re looking for and ironed out the details, we’ll work out the cost for the job and provide you with a FREE, no-obligation quotation. If you choose to accept our offer, we’ll set about crafting the components for your new conservatory. We craft all the components for the oak buildings we construct using timber sourced from a sustainably managed forest.

Full offsite support is provided, and we can also handle the onsite installation if you desire. Otherwise, we’ll supply the parts along with instructions that’ll tell you how to assemble your new extension Bournemouth customers.

Planning Applications

While planning permission isn’t always required, we at OakCraft recommend that you always apply for planning permission. After all, it’s better to be safe than sorry, as running into problems later can result in costly delays.

The OakCraft team are happy to assist you with this process as we recognise that applying for planning permission can be a little confusing at times. We provide a complete planning service, and we can create drawings for standard buildings to accompany your planning application. If you would rather that we handle the application for you, just let us know. While our planning service is free of charge, a non-refundable local authority fee will apply.

If you require a specialist planning application service, OakCraft will put you in touch with a local professional who we trust to handle such requests. With their help, you’ll get the permission you need to build your new conservatory and be ready to proceed to installation in no time.

Supply Only or Supply and Assembly

During the initial consultation, prior to installation, our team will enquire as to whether you would like for us to handle the installation or just supply the components. The choice is entirely down to you, so if you feel confident handling the installation yourself or would prefer to use your own builder, know that we can accommodate you.

If you choose ‘Supply Only’, we will make sure that you have all the parts needed to construct your conservatory along with assembly instructions. Each piece of oak is cut-to-size and jointed in the Mill; however, any softwood will need to be cut onsite. Rest assured that all offsite support will be provided, so installation should be straightforward.

Please note that all our oak frame buildings must be built on a base that meets our specified dimensions. We can either construct the base and brick plinth for you or survey one that you’ve built yourself.

If you choose ‘Supply and Assembly’, our team will get all the oak cut-to-size and jointed offsite. We’ll then deliver all the components to your site and take care of the installation for you. The frame of the extension will be delivered the day before using a crane, and our team will arrive the following day to complete the work.

Once assembled and installed, we’ll stud, clad, and cut the roof before fitting any joinery and glazing. Lastly, we’ll tile the roof – if you have someone else lined up to handle this, let us know, and we’ll leave it be.

Oak Garages

Here at OakCraft, we’re committed to crafting exquisitely designed timber garages that our customers are sure to love. Whether you need somewhere to store your vehicle or would like an extended garage that doubles up as a workshop or hobby room, we’ve got you covered. We do not deal in stock garages, so when you come to us, you’ll have the choice of a pre-designed unit or starting from scratch.

Plus, thanks to our patented OakCraft Jointing System, we can incorporate oak components at the appropriate time while ensuring each feature is customised to your exact requirements.

And that’s not all; our oak garages are available in five different options:

A single bay garage is perfect for storing one vehicle and has side door access for your convenience. Something as large as our 4- and 5-bay options, however, can house multiple vehicles or even a vehicle or two alongside a workshop. Plus, you can also add an upper floor extension if you so choose.

Upper Floored Buildings

On the subject of upper floor extensions, if you’re looking to expand an existing structure or build one with an upper level, we at OakCraft can help. Bournemouth customers can come to us for unique variants of all our buildings with features fully customised to meet their precise requirements. If space is an issue, building outwards may not be practical. So, the solution would be to build upwards.

As with a loft conversion, simply adding an extra level onto a building can unlock so much extra room. An upper floored building takes full advantage of the maximum floor space of the building below, so there’s room enough for whatever you need, from a home office to a kid’s playroom, craft workshop, ancillary accommodation, or even more storage.

All our upper floored buildings come with a full-height entrance door and an external staircase. To achieve maximum light throughout, we install double-glazed dormer windows, so everything will feel light and airy.

Other Outdoor Oak Framed Building Types

We’ve discussed extensions, garages, and upper floored buildings, but these aren’t the only bespoke oak framed buildings Bournemouth customers can enquire about. Other building types include:

Oak Porches and Balconies

A porch is a great addition to any property as it provides a buffer between the outside and the rest of the property. Rather than storing your shoes and coats inside the house, they can be stowed here instead. With a porch handy, visitors are less likely to walk dirt inside your home. Plus, a porch provides an additional barrier to overcome, boosting the security of your home.

As for balconies, well, who wouldn’t want to sit out on their own balcony when the sun is out and relax with a drink and a good book? At OakCraft, we design, craft, and supply the finest oak porches and balconies around. We can even handle the installation for you.

Gazebos and Carports

Do you fancy adding a free-standing structure to your garden that’s perfect for relaxing under or entertaining friends and family? Then an oak gazebo is the way forward.

Or maybe you desire a sheltered area to park vehicles under, providing added protection from the rain. Then you’ll want to look into an oak carport. At OakCraft, we handle the design and even the installation of gazeboes and carports that can be fully customised to suit your needs and preferences.

To learn more, all you need to do is give our team a call, and we’ll be delighted to answer any questions you might have concerning our process, materials, and buildings.

Oak Stables and Pool Houses

If you require a stable either as part of your business or lifestyle, then come to OakCraft, and we’ll build you a stable that’s in keeping with your requirements. We use only the best timber sourced from a sustainably managed forest. We work closely with the customer to devise a design that’s tailored to their needs. And then, we deliver the final product and can even handle the installation work. We can easily produce a bespoke stable and assemble it quickly, thanks to our OakCraft Jointing System.

If you’re someone who’s lucky enough to have their own swimming pool, you might want to consider investing in a pool house. A pool house is a great place to hang out with friends and family and typically features an outdoor (sheltered) seating area as well as indoor facilities. You could have an indoor area for entertaining, hosting parties, or maybe even ancillary accommodation. The choice is yours!

Garden Rooms and Conservatories

Lastly, we can build garden rooms and conservatories. We’ve discussed conservatories above already, so let’s focus a little on garden rooms.

A garden room is a free-standing room that’s situated apart from the rest of the property. The beauty of a garden room is that it offers a much-needed sanctuary, serving as a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the home. This makes garden rooms a great investment if you work from home.
