The client, based in South London, wanted to add a character-filled space to their property for family accommodation and a home office.
Challenge
The client and his family discovered OakCraft by chance during a holiday in the New Forest. Drawn to the unique character of oak-framed buildings, they hoped to find an outbuilding solution that would blend seamlessly with their existing property while adding warmth and charm.
After visiting our workshop at Holmsley Mill, they envisioned a space that could serve as a cosy retreat for family stays and a functional home office. Our bespoke design service, with its attention to character and craftsmanship, was just what they were looking for.
Solution
OakCraft was thrilled to offer a custom frame design, crafted on-site to suit the client’s needs. The project involved our comprehensive package, including design, manufacturing and assembly on location. As we specialise in oak framed structures, we provided the client’s family with a sturdy yet aesthetically refined building that blended traditional framing techniques with tailored features. Each element was meticulously chosen to highlight the beauty and character of oak, achieving a look that was both timeless and uniquely suited to the client’s vision.
Outcome
The finished structure exceeded the client’s expectations and stayed within budget, offering the desired ancillary accommodation and office space. Once completed, the barn showcased the true artistry of traditional oak framing, clad in London Stock bricks with a slate roof, creating a beautiful and functional addition to their property. The building has become a source of pride for the family, impressing guests with its craftsmanship and charm.
