This month, we welcomed visitors to Holmsley Mill for two successful open days as part of our 35th anniversary celebrations. Across both events, it was fantastic to see so many people take the time to visit the workshop, meet the team and learn more about how our oak-framed buildings are designed and made.
Trade Open Day
On Friday 15th May, we hosted our dedicated Trade Open Day, welcoming architects, designers, contractors and industry professionals for a behind-the-scenes look at our day-to-day production process.
Visitors joined guided workshop tours, explored projects in production and discussed the combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern machinery used within the business. We were also pleased to welcome groups including the New Milton Men’s Shed, who joined us to learn more about the work we do.
Public Open Day
The following day, Saturday 16th May, we opened our doors for our public open day, which sold out prior to the event. Across the day, we hosted 12 guided tours for potential customers, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the workshop and discuss their own project ideas with the team.
Tours were led by Gareth Hemmings, Director, and Paul Wyatt, Designer, who guided groups through the different stages involved in creating a bespoke oak-framed building from design and machining through to jointing and assembly.
Machinery was in operation throughout the tours, helping to give visitors a real feel for a typical working day within the workshop. Material samples, finishes and examples of completed projects were also on display, allowing guests to explore different styles and ideas in more detail.
Refreshments were available throughout both days, creating a relaxed atmosphere for visitors to chat with the team and ask questions. It was great to speak with so many people at different stages of their projects, from early ideas through to those ready to move forward.
The open days also generated a number of promising new enquiries, with several visitors now progressing conversations with the team following their visit.
